New Construction of a Center for Children and Teenagers in Artern
At the edge of the Artern city limits, this new building for the children’s and teenager’s center has been built on an underused piece of property.
The building has been consciously kept very compact in its design. The decisive design factors were the multifunctional purposes of the rooms and economy in the building’s operation. Additional group and side rooms have been grouped around a large, central room, which can be variously partitioned using mobile room dividers. Multiple overhead lights ensure that the central multi-function room provides a bright appearance despite its size. Slit windows in the doors with movable shutters and a fresh, contrasting color scheme accentuate the modest building. A heavily cantilevered porch roof, which extends across two sides of the building, lends it lightness while protecting against sun and rain. A generous open area with a terrace, soccer and basketball courts and a play area for children is joined on the west side.
